1 Peter 5:5-7; 5Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Pride is a subtle sin that leads to destruction. A haughty spirit precedes a great fall. In pride, Peter confidently declared that he was ready and willing to die with Christ.
How far Peter fell when later he denied three times that he even knew Christ!
Pride is quick to see the shortcomings of others, yet pride blinds us to our own sin. Such pride wrecks havoc in the church, leading to back-biting and broken relationships.
Indeed, almighty God resists us when we harbor pride in our own heart and behave gracelessly toward our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Church revitalization will never take place where pride reigns
Conversely, humility recognizes our smallness before God.
Humility considers the needs of others more important than our own needs.
Humility serves others. Humility makes us useful instruments in the hands of our Redeemer.
Humility is a pre-condition to God doing a work of revitalization in our church.
Be at peace with the LORD!
